Eighteen year ago, my son Andy was at a crossroads, and so was I. He had worked for a medical communications company for three years and was ready to move on. My crossroad was the decision to make a full-time hire for my company – Ginny Richardson Public Relations (GR-PR for short).

We went to dinner to discuss the idea of him working for me. We talked about responsibilities and salaries. Perhaps most important, we made a pact that remains to this day: at any time I could fire him, or at any time he could resign.

Andy Richardson with Ginny Richardson When Gayle Heldmann searched for a guest speaker to address her church support group, it was no easy task. With meetings every week – and no budget – it quickly became a daunting task.

“Our group was always looking for local speakers to come in and talk to us about a variety of topics,” said Heldmann, of Naperville. “It was always very difficult to find someone who was willing to do it for a nominal fee or for no fee at all, and we didn’t have funds for it,” she said. FreeSpeakers.org expands to Milwaukee

Free Speakers Milwaukee A new resource for groups and organizations that need speakers is now available in Milwaukee and its suburbs. It’s called FreeSpeakers.org – A Pro Bono Speakers Bureau. The new bureau has 20 local speakers with more than 35 different topics available.

The 50th Annual DuPage County Fair

Case Study

The DuPage County Fair is the only county fair in Illinois located in a completely urban setting. Historical research showed that when the first DuPage County Fair was held in 1955, the county was 85% farmland. By 2000, the last farm vanished as DuPage County was absorbed into Chicago’s urban sprawl.
