GR-PR wins three trumpets, Chicago’s top PR award
(HINSDALE, IL) - GR-PR (Ginny
Richardson Public Relations) won three top awards at
the 2006 Publicity Club of Chicago’s Golden Trumpet
Awards luncheon, held Friday, May 5, at the Palmer
House Hilton, Chicago. In attendance were more than
500 public relations executives from Chicago and
suburbs. Awards were presented by Janet Davies, host
of 190 North on ABC-Channel 7, and Bill Zwecker,
entertainment reporter, on WGN-TV – Channel 9.
Jennifer Slagter, account executive at GR-PR, won a
Golden Trumpet in the category of marketing for Von
Heidecke’s Chicago Festival Ballet’s 2005 “The
Nutcracker.
Ginny Richardson, president of GR-PR, won a Golden
Trumpet for the writing of Adventist Hinsdale
Hospital’s 100th anniversary book titled, “Century.”
Andy Richardson, senior account executive at GR-PR,
won a Silver Trumpet for his work in marketing of
the 2005 DuPage County Fair.
The Publicity Club of Chicago describes its Golden
Trumpet awards as “the most prestigious awards
program in the Midwest, honoring distinguished
individual achievement of public relations and other
communications professionals. These coveted awards
are presented for excellence in planning, creativity
and execution.
“This award is the result of great teamwork,” said
Slagter, whose Golden Trumpet is her first public
relations award. “The campaign for von Heidecke’s
‘Nutcracker’ was a coordinated effort among many
different people, and all of them were a joy to work
with. I’m honored to have played a role in bringing
attention to the beautiful works of von Heidecke’s
Chicago Festival Ballet.”
Von Heidecke’s Nutcracker is one of many Nutcrackers
in the Chicago and suburban area, all performed
within weeks of each other. Slagter succeeded in a
detailed awareness campaign with 25 million
impressions and an 863 percent return on investment.
Ginny Richardson spent many months writing
“Century,” a hardbound coffee table book that
commemorates the 100th anniversary of Adventist
Hinsdale Hospital.
“I have helped Adventist Hinsdale Hospital with its
media relations for more than 12 years,” Ginny
Richardson said, “and I have the highest regard for
everyone. The writing of the book was a labor of
love.
Andy Richardson has won three trumpets, two golden
(2004 and 2005) and one silver (2006), for his
creative and successful marketing campaigns for
three consecutive DuPage County Fairs. His work for
last summer’s fair resulted in nearly 53 million
impressions.
“To see so many families enjoying themselves during
the actual five days of the fair is the entire point
of almost a year of planning,” he said.
